A talented right-back recently transferred from a Serie A side to a Premier League club in January 2025 but has struggled to secure regular minutes.
The player featured for just 107 minutes across four league appearances in the latter half of last season.
He lost his starting spot following his club’s relegation, and during the previous summer transfer window, he was sent on loan to an Italian team without any obligation or option to buy.
Since then, he has appeared intermittently for the Serie A side, logging 479 minutes across 11 matches in all competitions.
Italian club stance
Earlier reports suggested all parties were considering ending his loan due to inconsistent performances, but that plan has since been reversed. The player remains at the Italian club, and there are indications that an extension beyond this season is being considered.
It’s claimed the Italian manager has ‘expressed strong interest’ in retaining the defender, recognizing the significant influence he could have in their defensive line. The manager reportedly requested the club to evaluate this option, which could satisfy his plans.
The player has also attracted attention from other European clubs following his recent international performances, with several teams contacting his agent.
Leicester City summer exit
Now, it is clear that Woyo Coulibaly has no future at Leicester City, despite being under contract until 2029. Sassuolo have reportedly opened formal negotiations with the Championship side.
The Italian club has already prepared an official offer to acquire him, although the financial terms have not been disclosed. If an agreement cannot be reached, Coulibaly will need to find another club, as Leicester City are determined to finalize his sale in the upcoming transfer window.
