Leicester City travel to Middlesbrough on Tuesday night looking for their first Championship win since January 5
Gary Rowett could be without nine senior players in his first away game as Leicester City coach.
The former Foxes defender, who started his tenure with a 2-2 draw at Stoke City on Saturday, takes his side to second-placed Middlesbrough on Tuesday evening.
Boro, who were held to a frustrating draw by Oxford United at the weekend, are three points off the top and six ahead of third-placed Millwall.
They have the third best home record in the league having won ten and drawn four of their 16 games at The Riverside.
By contrast City have won only four from 17 on their travels and have not tasted victory in the Championship since January 5.
Their plight will not be helped by the absence of almost a whole team’s worth of players.
At the back Jamaal Lascelles has picked up a ‘small injury’ that will keep him out for a couple of weeks, while Jannik Vestergaard has not played in a month. Harry Souttar is also out.
Victor Kristiansen went off injured in the first half against Stoke, pressing Luke Thomas back into action at left-back.
In midfield Jordan James is out with a hamstring problem, as is Aaron Ramsey and Hamza Choudhury hurt his knee on January 31.
To make matters worse winger Abdul Fatawu is managing his knee, while Jordan Ayew missed out against Stoke. Rowett said: “It would be nice to get some of those back. I don’t know whether Abdul or Jordan will be back for Tuesday. Hopefully so. Fingers crossed.”
On the plus side Bobby De Cordova-Reid is available after completing his three match ban for his sending off at Birmingham City.
