Harry Winks has been relegated to the bench with Gary Rowett opting to implement three alterations to his Leicester City lineup to face Bristol City.

Winks has started City’s last five matches, the midfielder back in the fold following Marti Cifuentes’ sacking, but is left out at the King Power Stadium with Jordan James earning his first start in two months alongside Oliver Skipp.

Elsewhere, Jordan Ayew makes his first start in seven matches up front, the Ghanaian replacing Patson Daka despite the Zambian finding the net at Ipswich on Saturday.

The third change sees Hamza Choudhury take over from Ricardo Pereira at right-back and as City captain.

With just three changes made, it means Bobby De Cordova-Reid retains his spot in attacking midfield, with Divine Mukasa only among the substitutes.

That holds true as well for Jamaal Lascelles, with Caleb Okoli keeping his place alongside Ben Nelson at the heart of the defence. None of City’s four January signings make the starting XI.

Goalkeeper Fran Vieites and winger Jeremy Monga are both fit to return after injury ruled them out of the trip to Ipswich. Harry French and Bade Aluko are the players to miss out.
